Nicknames: Gazzy, Zelly Bean, Miss Ump Bump Fizz

Personality Traits: Gazelle is a sweetie-pie. At the shelter, she seemed terrified of us, but once she came into our house, it was a different story. She seems to really enjoy the company of children!

Gazelle is a spayed female rex rabbit, with very soft fur, who weighs nearly 8 lbs. She was adopted from the Colorado House Rabbit Society in February 2005, along with her mate, Owen.

At first, Gazelle seemed to enjoy being petted, if she can hide next to Owen while it happened. As she has settled in it has become clear to us that she really hates being petted or touched, especially around her head. We have to pick her up for regular nail trims and grooming, but other than this, we try to resist the temptation to try to pet her. She likes to bump us with her nose and put her front paws on us, but would prefer not to be touched.

Sometimes she will let us pet her sides for a moment or two. And once when I was grooming her, she started tooth purring, but most of the time she would prefer to just have us gaze at her in admiration.
